African-Americans and Rh-negative Blood Type

Standard

The Black Cochin Jewish population has a high percentage of Rh-negative blood but the Rh-negative blood type is uncommon in the Black population in general, which is exactly the same interesting phenomenon as with the Oriental Jews of Israel who have a high percentage of Rh-negative blood, where among the Chinese and Japanese, Rh-negative blood type it is almost non-existent.

  1. I am African American with Scottish and Blackfoot Indian lineage. Ever since I found out I was Rh- negative I’ve been on a mission to find out more b/c it has affected my life so greatly. I am highly intelligent (don’t know what my IQ is but I know when tested as a child I excelled greatly in reading, science and arts), and very psychic. I am also Rh- sensitized which has also changed my life a great deal. I would like as much info on this matter as possible.

    • The RH factor, I am an o+ black female married to an o- black male we had 3 children to all living and no problems with deliveries. Can somebody explain to me why there were no still borns as stated in the article? My case must be special I would assume.

      • This applies to an RH- mother only. Now if you have daughters and she is RH- it’s a concern for her not you.

      • I don’t know for sure but probably because you are positive and your children are probably positive as well. My mother for example is negative, my father is positive. My mom did not receive the rhogam shot after my big sister and as I result I was what they called a blue baby. My mother did not make past 6 months pregnant with my younger brother. I am O negative and was lucky to get the shot after my first child and had no problems with pregnancy.

      • I have come to find out that I am also French Apache and Irish and that the rH negativity factor comes from that part of my lineage and not the Blackfoot native lineage. I just had my second son 4 weeks ago and he is also rH-. I had no issues with pregnancy and the only issue he seems to have is a sacral dent and a hypersensitive digestive system.
One very interesting thing I have come across is that rH negativity does not appear to be evolutionary. Meaning that it was purposely created and bred for reasons of nobility. And that its creation is where the term “blue bloods” comes from.

  2. I am an African American living in the southern United States. I have Rh-Negative blood from my father. And B-Negative blood from my mother. Im very much interested in my ancestry. And who I am descended from. Especially sense a European told me that some black Rh-Negatives are Black Irish. And others are Jews.

  4. I am African and rh negative O blood type…. both my parent are both rh positive O blood type… I believe i am the only one with rh negative out of all my siblings… How is that possible? I am of the royal descent from Africa, my grandfather was a very powerful king. I don’t believe i have any missed race in me, i believe i am a full blooded African. everywhere i read about rh negative online, it seems the percentage of Africans with it are very small. i now live in America and found out i am rh negative after my third pregnancy… (had two miscarriages prior). i am just curious to see if you have any answers for me. Thanks,

    • AJ, I could only guess or use my imagination. The Berbers, the Basque, Oriental Jews and Ancient Persian Jews have high percentages of rh-negative blood in their populations. One of your ancestors may have been from one of these groups. There were and still are plenty of African Jews. I run across it frequently in my research. You aren’t the only person of African descent who is puzzled by this. I can tell by the search words people use. I think people get suspicious but children inherit differently. I’m also rh-negative and my sister isn’t. I read that there is a lot of rh-negative in Britain’s royal family tree. There is also some African and Jewish in that tree. It’s all very interesting, isn’t it? I’d love to see your family tree with the African king, maybe it matches somewhere with European royalty. Good luck with your genealogy search.

      • I suspect mine comes from either the Irish, French (Basque) or Jewish Ethiopian lineage. Most of my family members on my paternal grandmother’s side are rH-. My great, great, great grandmother’s parents were French (Apache) and Creole (we suspect she assimilated either as a white Frenchwoman to the Apache tribe or as an Apachewoman to white), and her husband was Irish. Their names were Patrice McClain and Burton McClain of Oklahoma. My family members with rH- blood typing have two different color eyes, or underbites, and we all have red hair no matter the hue.

    • Hi as far as, the anti-D injections to protect my babies from the risk of rhesus incompatibility. I did not receive any injection for my unborn babies. I was not offered any injections, but my children are normal. I have 3 children with my black husband, who is o-, I am o+. I was never asked my husband blood type. My children turned out fine, they’ve all completed college and achieved their degrees. I don’t think enough research is done to make these statements. At the end of the day, I believe in God not the big bang theory!

      • The MOTHER alone has to be RH- to have issues with childbirth! You are O+ so it is normal that you have normal pregnancies and delivery.
It YOU were O- then you would be at risk for pregnancy complications c

      • I am a O- melanated male from America and from what I have learned, a female with rh+ blood would have “nothing” to worry about, as carrying an rh- baby would not cause any issues. The issue is when an rh- female mates with an rh+ male because the rh- female could possibly reject an rh+ baby.(my mother was rh- and father rh+ so they did all types of monitoring to make sure I was not rh+) I also read that two rh- might have a low success rate of birth, but I still need to do some more research on that.
It seems like a lot of our confusion comes from not knowing who we really are and where we really come from (or where we already were) as a people.
*Also, what would the big bang theory have to do with blood types?
Just because there are beings that are far MOOR advanced than they teach about in school or church, that could set up a “big bang” or influence the evolution of a life form on a planet through DNA/RNA manipulation, does not mean that there still isn’t a “source” or “creator of the boundless universe”.
**And don’t believe the BS that “they” are pumping about the low % of rh- blood in Americans (most of us were never from “Africa”, so we are just Americans)

      • Because you are o+ you would not cause any antibodies to attack the fetus your husband is o- so it doesn’t matter. It only matters if the mother is o- because the child is carried in the mother’s body and her if blood mixes with the o+ baby in the uterus her body will produce antibodies that rejects subsequent pregnancies

  5. I am yet another AA with RH negative blood. My bloodlines span from West Africa, Cuba, ireland, Spain, Lebanon and probably Eurasia, due to Native American Indian genes as well.

What I find so interesting about this inquiry into this specific blood type is how ‘White separatists’ have attempted to co-opt this blood type as a mark of their ‘purity’. I am hardly “pure” by any stretch of the word, but according to their non-logic, I have the “purest blood of Europe”. hahahaha!

I always have a good chuckle when RH positive White Americans gloat about their “purity” in contrast to non Whites. LOL

    Thanks for this,

  6. I’m a O- African American woman. I had 2 miscarriages prior to giving birth to my 3 O+ babies. I did not have the rhogam injection prior to my 2 miscarriages. I think the number of Rh- African Americans is much higher than accounted for. I read that there’s only 7% of us, at most. However I personally know quite a few Rh- AA men and women. If the AA rh- population is so small then why do I know so many? The numbers just don’t add up to me.

    • Ty,
There are quite a few African Americans who have made comments whenever I post about rh-negative. It’s an interesting blood type, I have it too. Have you taken a DNA test? It won’t answer all of your ancestry questions but it might give you a clue.

      • There might be a place on gedmatch.com where we can compare our DNA with other rh-negative people. My DNA report shows that I have lots of Western European, some Southern European (think Mediterranean), a small amount of Southeast Asian, a small amount of Native American and a tiny amount of “unassigned.” The rh-negative seems to come from the Middle East and makes its way into Southern Europe and then Scotland and Ireland.

The problem with DNA testing is that it often leaves us with more questions than before we took the test. Did rh-negative begin in Africa and make its way to the Middle East or the other way around? I am NOT an expert on this. I am a curious genealogist, seeking answers, just cause I want to know.

      • I just tested with 23AndMe. There are several companies that you can go with. There is a website called Gedmatch.com where you can upload your “raw data” and compare it with others, no matter where you took the test. I am writing a new “Secret Genealogy” book. It is about DNA testing. Pretty heady stuff.

Interesting that you were told that you have “Egyptian ancestry.” I keep thinking about these three groups: Moroccan Berbers, Basque and ancient Iranian Jews. They all have a high percentage of rh-negative. It’s a lot of fun (and frustration) to explore the possibilities. We need patience and an open mind because there is a lot of new information. Actually, those of us with rh-negative blood are lucky that we have that to guide us. It’s a huge clue. It even has conspiracy theories tied to it, lol. (Ancient alien ancestors, etc.)

      • I just tested with AncestryDNA. Again, I am an African American woman. Someone in my family mentioned Egyptian ties a while back but I later found out they were confused. No one as far back as my great great great grandmother is white in my family. However I had a feeling my results would look like this due to my further research on rh- people. I learned there are less than 1% of African people are rh-, therefore I had a feeling my DNA would show more English than African. Hope this helps someone. Maybe we’re all related. Lol.

Great Britain 38% (England, Scotland, Wales 33%-42%)
        Ivory Coast/Ghana 21% (7%-22%)
Cameroon/Congo 14% (Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Republic of Congo 0%-29%)
        Nigeria 9% (0%-29%)
        Senegal 7%
        Low Confidence Regions
        Africa Southeastern Bantu 5%
        Mali 2%
        Benin/Togo 2%

        Native American < 1%

  11. Hi I am So called African American, actually my mother told me my dad is a Caribbean man from Barbados. I have RH Negative blood and received the Rhogam shot for each of my pregnancies. When I was younger I was able to see a spirit once. It looked directly at me and every night since I was able to hear voices in my closet. I grew up in Edison NJ so we just assumed the house was haunted. I was around 9 years old then. I always read really big books as a child an am etremely knowledgeable. I’ve been exposed to cultures, religion and history and have obtained Consciousness of the Israelites and Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Also ancient Sumeria and Ancient Kemet. Who am I? I also have vivid dreams. I see ocean waves destroying the earth but I am always safe. I’ve even seen myself flying in space amongst the stars with a heavenly spirit, all praises to the creator. When I found out about the Israelites and the covenant, I prayed for my truth to be revealed to me. That night, I dreamt that I was in a room with angels reading books and studying. They gave me books to read! I watched my dreams as they play out and detach my physical emotions but I became so overwhelmed in this dream that I became scared and ran out of the room! I was afraid because I didn’t see any people! Where was everyone? Is the elect really small in number? Also I have broken every phone I have ever owned simply touching them. If I become angry lights flicker in my house in any room that I’m in. I am a leader and a fighter I never give up and people gravitate toward me for advice. I love God always have always will. My beauty also stands out my children are gorgeous and men can’t get enough of me even though I’m not that nice to them.I don’t really like people because I think most people are demons. My grandmother favored me out of all of her grandchildren and I never understood why. I wonder if anyone out there shares my story in any way please because it frightening dealing with the spiritual world.
