What’s A Stoic?


The Stoics were formed about 300 B.C. in ancient Greece. The word stoic means “a roofed colonnade or porch.” In Athens, Greece, the Stoics taught under such a covered porch surrounded by classic colonnades. Founded by the Greek philosopher Zeno, the Stoics distained science, instead believing that the key to knowledge and conduct was through blind fate. They believed in living a virtuous and severely simple lifestyle.
