The original meaning of Andrew means “manliness”. As a disciple of John the Baptist, Andrew was one of the twelve apostles (twelve men selected by Jesus to be with him). Like Jesus, Andrew was a fisherman. Andrew went to Greece to preach Jesus’ teachings and it was in Greece where Andrew was crucified.
